Carina Wickens RVN, REVN

Team Lead

Carina is originally from the UK and began her veterinary nursing career in small animal practice over 26 years ago. In 2009, she specialised as an equine veterinary nurse and has since worked across several equine practices in the UK. As a Head Nurse, Carina was responsible for training equine veterinary nurses and implementing gold-standard protocols and work practices.

Carina first joined The Equine Centre between 2010 and 2012, returning permanently in 2016. She is now the Team Lead for Support Staff, where she enjoys leading the wonderful team at the EC. Carina enjoys all aspects of her role, particularly working with student veterinarians and student nurses, engaging with clients, caring for horses, and performing advanced imaging, including CT scans, scintigraphy, and radiography.

Outside of work, Carina stays busy with her horse, Yogi, enjoying trail riding, natural horsemanship, and obstacle work. You may also have met her dogs, Maize and Dottie, who often accompany her to work.
