Prof Chris Whitton, BVSc, PhD, FACVSc

Chris has over 40 years of experience as an equine veterinarian. He trained as a specialist surgeon at the University of Sydney, where he also completed his PhD, developing a passion for research into limb injuries in athletic horses. Chris has worked at the Equine Centre since November 2004, where he established the Equine Orthopaedic Research Group, a world-leading multidisciplinary research program aimed at reducing injury rates in athletic horses. Chris has lectured worldwide and published over 90 scientific publications on equine orthopaedics and imaging.
Chris continues to work within the research group, developing strategies to make racing safer for horses and their riders.
