Dr Cristina Rosales BVSc MVS MVSc FANZCVS (Equine Medicine)
Registered Specialist in Equine Medicine
Cristina graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2011, where she decided to turn her love of internal medicine from dairy practice to horses. Following graduation, she pursued an equine rotating internship in a busy private practice in Victoria, followed by a role as an equine registrar at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, which further fostered her curiosity in medicine. She completed her residency in Equine Internal Medicine at the University of Melbourne Equine Centre, where she also completed her Masters of Veterinary Science, focusing on inflammatory pathways involved in placental detachment in the mare. She became a Fellow of Equine Medicine with the ANZCVS in 2021.
Cristina has worked in referral and first opinion private practices, as well as University Teaching Hospitals, in both Australia and UK, including a busy NICU in northern Victoria, ambulatory practice in the Cotswolds, and most recently the University of Queensland’s Equine Specialist Hospital as a clinician and a course lecturer. She has also ventured to Mongolia twice as a course veterinarian in the Mongol Derby.
Cristina thoroughly enjoys the diversity and unexpected surprises clinical practice provides and loves nothing more than combining evidence-based medicine and practicality, at the same time bringing compassionate care to horses and their owners. Her interests include gastrointestinal diseases, ophthalmology, cardiology and neonates.
Outside of work, Cristina is a self-proclaimed native tree-nerd, an amateur gardener, loves surfing and enjoys camping with her young family.
