Josephine (Josie) Hale

Dr Josie Hale is a Registered Specialist in Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Melbourne Equine Centre, working within the Equine Lameness and Imaging Centre. Her clinical interests include equine lameness, performance-related injuries, and advanced imaging–guided diagnosis and treatment of the equine athlete.

Josie graduated from Charles Sturt University in 2014 and has worked extensively in equine practice across Australia, including a rotating internship at Agnes Banks Equine Clinic, time with Scone Equine Group, and working with the specialist team at the University of Queensland Equine Specialist Hospital. Josie completed a residency in Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation at Charles Sturt University in 2022 and was awarded a Doctorate of Veterinary Studies in 2023 for her research into autologous conditioned serum in horses.

Josie became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2024 and remains actively involved with the Equine and Sports Medicine Chapters of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists.

Outside of work, Josie enjoys spending time outdoors, catching up with friends, riding her reining horses, and travelling. Her dog, Twiggy, accompanies her on as many of these adventures as possible.
