Dr Md Nurul Anwar
Research Fellow
Anwar is a Mathematician and works as a research fellow in the Equine Orthopaedic Research Group. He received his master’s degree back in Bangladesh before getting his PhD in mathematical epidemiology at the School of Mathematics & Statistics, The University of Melbourne, in December 2023. He joined the Equine Orthopaedic Research Group in 2025, bringing expertise in mathematical modelling. His current research interest is in understanding the impact of training on bone dynamics, including bone adaptation, bone damage and repair through mathematical modelling. He is also interested in identifying optimal training strategies for Thoroughbred racehorses to minimise bone damage without impacting racing performance through mathematical optimisation. Besides this new field of research, he continues conducting research in modelling infectious disease transmission, including malaria and Yaws.
Besides research, Anwar enjoy camping and DIY auto repair.
