Tanya Puksmann, BSc, BAS (Med Rad)

Advanced Imaging Technician

Tanya completed her Bachelor of Science with a zoology major from the University of Melbourne. She then did a Medical Radiations applied science degree from RMIT to become a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. She completed her intern year at Geelong hospital and then worked in their Nuclear Medicine department for several years.

She began working at the University of Melbourne Equine Centre in 2005 when a new gamma camera was installed. Veterinary Nuclear Medicine became a passion for Tanya as she set up the first Nuclear Medicine department (incl equine “scintigraphy”) at the University of Melbourne Veterinary Clinic and Hospital, scanning both small animal and equine patients. She is dedicated to producing some of the best veterinary nuclear medicine images with her many years of experience and now updated and state of the art gamma camera and other advanced imaging technologies.

Tanya trains and competes dressage on her imported Danish Warmblood horse Flynn and has an English Springer Spaniel called Humphrey. Other than riding, Tanya enjoys travelling and spending time on her equine property in the Macedon Ranges.
